Toys in a small house
My mother recently read an article in the Globe about a company that rents out educational toys (Spark Box Toys) . You pay a monthly membership fee and get developmentally appropriate toys delivered to you every four, six or eight weeks, depending on your membership level. Keep the toys as long as you (your kid) wants and then return them with already paid for shipping. For someone with a bowling alley apartment like me, that sounds pretty great – An ever changing series of educational toys that I don’t have to store long term? Sign me up! Until you realize that even with new toys arriving only every 8 weeks it’s still $23 a month. I’m pretty sure we’re spending like $0 a month on toys, so I guess if we have $23 a month extra we should probably start saving for college / preschool. Even if it does mean I have to store the ones Nathan’s / we’ve long forgotten about.
(just for fun, here is one of the newer toys)Motorboat, motorboat, turn on the gas! from Katie Vogele-Bongiovanni on Vimeo.
