Mozart in the morning

Last night Nathan was so tired he didn’t want to listen to any of his books, so we started singing. After a few worship songs and the start of a few hymns Nathan asked for a "new? new? new song" and then specified that he wanted "mozaht." Unfortunately, the only Mozart he knows is orchestral. This morning as we snuggled, eating goldfish and listening to Mozart (this is becoming our weekend morning thing) he started singing along with the overture to The Barber of Seville. I guess that's what he wanted last night. I'm not sure if we should be proud or embarrassed at our dorkiness that our toddler asks for (sometimes demands) Mozart by name...

Definitely proud! My dad used to tell us "opera stories" to put us to sleep and I used to request Cosi fan Tutti (by name) a lot...

Haha, that's awesome, both of you. Parents, this is what studying music does to your children.

I heard Beethoven's Piano Concerto #3 recently on the radio. It made me recall how much it struck me the first time I heard it when I was 18. (It turned into a "parking lot moment" as I sat and waited for it to finish so I could find out what it was.) And I thought "I bet Nathan would like this!"
