Save for later

Sometimes (often) Nathan says or does something cute and I want to remember it, but it’s not really enough for a blog post, so I toss it up on facebook, enjoy it for a bit, and then it disappears into the incomprehensible mess that is facebook. So now I’m thinking maybe I should be storing them here where they’ll service at least until the internet dissolves. Or as Nathan now says about anything he doesn't finish or doesn't want us to get rid of, "save a lattah"

And so we have, 2013 Moments with Nathan (according to facebook):

September 10
Nathan, 6:45am, while still in bed: Oh! It's school! Let's go Mama! All set - ready to go! I wanna go NOW!
Hopefully he doesn't change his tune when Daddy drops him off.

September 9
Getting ready for Nathan's first day of preschool
Me: I don't think I've ever used a new roll of masking tape before - how do you start it?
Tim: I'm pretty sure you just find the end...

September 6
“… bumping up and down in my little red wagon –won’t you be my darlin?
Nathan, will you be my darlin?”
“No. Your wagon broken. I want a NEW wagon Mumma. Okay? A new one? A red one? No, a GREEN one.”

September 2
I'm not sure if Nathan sings himself TO sleep, or just sings UNTIL he falls asleep.

August 28
Improvisation on an Eric Carle text:
Weed whacker, weed whacker what do you see? I see an elephant looking at me…

August 24
Nathan could not understand what the Nina and Pinta were doing on his "rocket ship shirt" - being a 2.5 year old boy, when Mama asked if he wanted to wear his "new ship shirt from Auntie Sarah" he of course assumed rocket ships would be involved.

July 20
Switching to the big boy bed was much too easy - I'm worried about what tomorrow morning will bring.

June 23
A boy after his Auntie Mary's heart:
Old McDonald had a farm, ee i ee i o. With a horsey here, horsey there, everybody have one. Old McDonald had a farm, ee i ee i o.

June 21
Yesterday Grammy asked Nathan where he wants to work when he grows up.
“Do you want to work in an office?” “No. Work a piano.”
We’re sunk.

June 20
Never look encouragingly at the brass. – Richard Strauss
NO, go ‘way, go ‘way. Go ‘way, go ‘way yucky horns! – Nathan Bongiovanni

May 23
Nathan’s singing Old Macdonald, playing with the rhythm of the EE-I-EE0I-OOOs –
Tim: Did you just syncopate that rhythm?
Nathan: Ja.

May 1
Nathan, first thing this morning: Auuuntie, Auuuntie, Auntie, Auntie, Auuuuntie! Sarah? Saaraaaaah. Saaaaaraaaaaah.
The rest of the morning's been spent singing "Happy biiiiiiiirthday Auntie Mary, happy biiirthday to yooooooooooo."

April 26
Nathan: I need more mana! (banana)
Tim: More manna? Manna from Heaven?
Nathan: I need more Heaven!

March 10
Nathan takes after his grandfather. Today he ate a whole apple - core, seeds and all. I guess it's a good thing we buy organic apples.

March 9
8:18am Nathan, stepping into the living room: "Ken? (little sigh) a work... Play dough dough? Yah!" And the day has begun.

March 5
“Clean up, clean up for Jesus. He does not like a mess. Clean up, clean up for Jesus and be forever blessed.” The theology may be questionable, but it got the toys put away.

February 2
Listening to Jim Harrington's recital clips. Nathan: More? More sing? Yah! More! Gampa? (sometimes Grandpa makes up arias) Dada? (definitely not) Dim! (Jim) Yah! More! ... I think we're branching out from Bach and Mozart

January 4
Getting ready for a day with his friends in Bedford, Nathan sang a song about "Havey, Zion, Havey, Zion, Havey, Zion". When asked who else would be there he announced that "Dan at work." And what does Miss Leah do? "Leah hugs - hugs Natan."

December 28, 2012
This morning Nathan asked Daddy to get up and play and told Mama to stay in bed - he must know it's recovery day after a wonderful Revels run.
